DCS-NEWS [News] DCS SA 341 Gazelle byPolychop-Simulations

Dear DCS Simmers,

I'm currently reworking some parts in the cockpit. One main thing is the interior Covering, which is a pain in the a..
additionally, I got some input of on our pilots about some cables which are in the rear between the Emergency seat and the left rear door. This is what I do next.

Further on, the Rotor Dynamics are currently developed by TOWSIM.
The Coding Module is called: MEDUSA and will be integrated in the SDK CODE.

The MEDUSA Rotor Dynamic Systems:

Medusa is a multithreading/multitasking system, especially developed for simulation software projects. It allows to calculate the behavior of simulation objects independently in the background. Applied on a helicopter rotor system, it calculates the aerodynamics and the resulting forces of every single rotor blade. Even for twisted blades. The entire calculation bases on a standardized, user defined rotor system description, like blade length, its mass etc. The list is given to the medusa system and the software produces all physical results to move a helicopter in a meteorological environment. The amazing effect is, that transition effect, autorotation, ground effect situations or vortex ring situation are calculation results, rather than ‘if, then, else’ determinations. The rotor description list can be tested in a test flight software. All items can be modified online to tune the parameters for a given helicopter model. This allows to create a specific helicopter model in a very short time.
Frame input parameters to Medusa are;

Current helicopter movement as X, Y, Z speed vectors in m/s
Current height above ground level in meter AGL
Current geometric altitude in meter above MSL
Current rotor system attitude as yaw, pitch and roll.
Current helicopter mass in kg;
Mast Torque in Nm (normally the torque output of the gear box)
Mast RPM
Relative blade pitch for every single blade, incl. tail rotor pitch
Current temperature at MSL
Current pressure at MSL
Current ambient wind vectors as X, Y, Z speed vectors in m/s

Runtime calculation results are:

Rotor RPM in dependence of a mast torque input and resulting blade forces in Nm
Resulting forces along the X,Y and Z axes of the rotor system in N
Resulting torque around the X,Y and Z axes of the rotor system in Nm
The meteorological parameters observed are:

Ambient air density
Ambient air temperature
Current ambient wind
All calculation results are available to the superordinated software layer.
Medusa was developed in 2012 by Aries Wings Consulting and continuously enhanced over the years. A very early version was implemented in ATC tower simulations (TOWSIM) , which is used by several ATC agencies around the world. Medusa’s first deployment in DCS will be together with the BO105, developed by Polychop-Simulations.

Dear fellow Simmers,

Here we go for the next update.

First, we want to show you soem nice rendering from Sven, our lead 3d-Artist.

DEVELOPMENT:

Medusa System:

The coding of our Medusa System comes along very good. TOWSIM told me that also the Autorotation will be calculated automatically, based on the Helicopter you configure in the mask. It will work like in real. He currently applies the configurable Engine to the Code.
Soon, the coding will start. We just need to add some code to the Gazelle, based on the pilot's imput .

Modeling:

•Internal and external Model has been textured. Some little tweaking here and there is left, but not worth the saying
•Dummy helpers has also been set on the moveable parts.
•Pilot will be started, as soon as the Gazelle Pilot is finished.
Airbus Helicoptrs Clearance:

No answer so far, but we're on it

thanks all for your patience.
